Anytime you need to void a claim that already has been transferred/paid, please follow these steps:
You will want to go to the client folder > records > payer > right click on the claim and select “view credit details”:
From here you will want to input the posted date of payment into your Open Payers Accounts (Payers > Open Payers Accounts). You would want to set it up exactly like this:
*If you know the payer you can select them from the drop down list to narrow it down even more*
When you find the client name you’ll want to right-click and select apply/unapply payment:
Unapply the payment and it will go as a “credit” but we are just going to reapply everything after we fix what we need to and redo the claim. If you go back to your claim section in the client folder, you’ll notice the claim is now incomplete:
You can right click on the claim and void it now! A confirmation will pop up and I normally cancel the transfers as well when I know I need to redo the entire appointment:
You’ll now be able to go ahead and reverse the appointment and edit it as well:
When I re-do everything and I know it’s been claimed/paid, I always select “do not send electronically”:
After we re-claim the appointment, you would go back into OPA and apply the payment we took off:
After we apply the payment, the claim is now complete again:
